Cali - Alamere Falls

Photograph taken at Point Reyes National Seashore, California

Our last day in the San Francisco area was a day with nature. In the morning we embarked on what was supposed to be an 8 mile round trip hike to see Alamere Falls (pictured above). The final descent to the falls in online guides was described a safe but adventurous. When we arrived to the final descent all I saw were signs of danger. I used to be an avid rock climber, but the unstable terrain of the descent was not something I was willing to risk.

We had a decision to make: head back without actually seeing the falls or find another route. Eight miles in already, we decided to see the falls and so we took another route which added 4 more miles to our hike.

The falls were nice to see, but I think we were expecting more. Perhaps it was the wrong time of year as they falls were running thin. Regardless the hike was a lot of fun and sometimes it's all about the journey and not the destination.

Glad to hear that you had a head full of common sense while trying to capture what you were waiting to see for so long. There were many point along PCH where I felt "underwhelmed". But I like your PoV and capturing the footprints in the sand to give this composition nice depth.
