Photographed in Chobe National Park, Botswana
Safari days are a blast and the sunset is a bittersweet time. It's a chance to reflect on the amazing things that you saw throughout the day and to take in the wonderful colors caressing the African landscape. It's also a time when you realize how short the days actually are and that at some point in the near future you will have to return home and get back to work!
When envisioning this shot above, my goal was to convey all that emotion.
My wife and I were lucky on this afternoon to have a guide and the jeep all to ourselves. We found this location along the Chobe River and decided to relax and have a sundowner here. I positioned my tripod and set the exposure to create the silhouette of my wife and I in our safari hats enjoying an amazing sunset at the end of an incredible day.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
