South Tower Memorial

Posted by Yonatan (New York, United States) on 28 September 2011 in Documentary & Street.

Designed by architect Michal Arad, the memorial includes twin reflecting pools which sit at the same location of each of the Twin Towers. Standing along the perimeter is truly humbling, to imagine that the skyscrapers once stood there, housing thousands of people hard at work, and now the space is empty, with the largest man made waterfalls in North America there to fill the void.

Bronze panels surround the memorial pools and the names of all the victims of the 1993 and 2001 terror attacks are inscribed. At night, bright white light shines up through the names illuminating the perimeter.
