Vastra Skogen Metro Escalator

Posted by Yonatan (New York, United States) on 14 May 2010 in Transportation.

Does your cell phone work down here? YES!!!

Things are very hectic right between getting back from Sweden and taking care of residency paperwork and training, preparing to move to a new apartment, and attending all the wonderful celebrations that are taking place with family, friends, and colleagues.

Traveling between the Bronx and Manhattan has gotten me quite nostalgic about the awesome public transportation system in Stockholm, Sweden. The "Blue Line" connected my neighborhood to the center of Stockholm. This line is known to be the most interesting (artists decorate the different stations) and it is also located the deepest in the ground. This picture is looking down the escalator which takes you to the platform to board the subway. The awesome thing about the subway in Stockholm is that cell phones work perfectly on the platform and on the train!

New York City is decades behind and after getting a taste of an efficient and modern system I'm yearning for NYC to get its act together!

For a panoramic view of one of Stockholm's most awesome subway stations, check out my pano at Panoye here.

I invite you all to visit frequently and leave comments and feedback. I would really appreciate constructive criticism that will help me improve. You don't need to be a photographer to help me, tell me what you like and don't like. If you have any suggestions of interesting things to shoot or fun techniques to try I'd also love to know.

Best wishes,
