Eyeing New York City

Posted by Yonatan (New York, United States) on 30 April 2010 in People & Portrait.

My family came to visit me in NYC the weekend before I departed for Sweden. My little sister, Heather, always enjoys a stop at the M&M store in Times Square and that is where I captured this photo.

The store has a good amount of glass windows and thus a fun perspective on Time Square. I captured this shot as Heather was looking out the window at the street below. Sunlight through the window worked nicely to illuminate her eye. This shot was taken with my macro lens. I took a few exposures and decided that I like this high key version the best.

I had originally intended on posting this picture at the beginning of my trip while I was in northern Sweden without internet access. As luck had it, I had internet access and was able to share with you all my journey 250km north of the Arctic Circle in relative real time. I thought it was fitting to post this picture now as it is me who is eyeing NYC. I will be departing Sweden on Monday morning and heading back to NYC. I have taken many pictures over the past 8 1/2 weeks and have a lot of work to do on them when I get home. Even though I will be back in New York soon, don't despair as there is a still a lot of Sweden that I would like to show you all.

Thank you for taking some time to take a look at my photographs. I hope you enjoy your stop at my blog.

I invite you all to visit frequently and leave comments and feedback. I would really appreciate constructive criticism that will help me improve. You don't need to be a photographer to help me, tell me what you like and don't like. If you have any suggestions of interesting things to shoot or fun techniques to try I'd also love to know.

Best wishes,

Yonatan
