Newport Cliffwalk Sunrise 1
Posted by Yonatan (New York, United States) on 25 January 2012 in Landscape & Rural.
Using The Photographer's Ephemeris and Google Maps I decided that Ochre Point would be a good location for sunrise on 1/15/12. I arrived to the location I had scouted on the computer about the 40 minute prior to sunrise. I was immediately surprise to find a long line of fencing separating the walking path from very steep cliffs leading in the sea. This was quite different from the sunset location that I have shown over the past week and a half. I was flustered. It seemed like it was going to be impossible to incorporate a foreground and get the types of shots that I wanted.
I started walking briskly south hoping that the fence would end and that I could safely scramble down to the rocks and closer to the ocean. Eventually I found a spot where could hop a short guard rail and set up my camera in an unobstructed position. It was not ideal, but with the sunrise getting closer and precious twilight burning away, I needed to start shooting.
Please follow me for the next few posts as I show you the sunrise at Newport, Rhode Island.

Thank you for taking some time to take a look at my photographs. I hope you enjoy your stop at my blog.
I invite you all to visit frequently and leave comments and feedback. I would really appreciate constructive criticism that will help me improve. You don't need to be a photographer to help me, tell me what you like and don't like. If you have any suggestions of interesting things to shoot or fun techniques to try I'd also love to know.
Best wishes,
Yonatan
